Yes , you can. Now we are talking about old refrigerators that might already be a color. Yellowed whites, or beiges can be refreshed to bright clean whites to brighten your kitchen.
The main ingredient in this project, is buying the right paint – Gloss Appliance Paint or my favorite Rust-Oleum Appliance Epoxy. Understand that this paint is very smelly. You will need great ventilation, or to take the appliance outside the home to paint.
Now you are ready to begin. Start by removing the handles gently first. The next step is to rough up the surface and get some of the old gloss off. A 150-grit sand-paper done by hand can achieve this with a little elbow grease.
I would suggest wearing a face mask, as you don’t want to be inhaling these sanded particles.
With a damp cloth wipe down to remove dust. When dry you can start applying the paint with a small roller, and brush for hard-to-reach areas.
I find that doing three sides and leaving the back is adequate as you don’t want to start messing with coils and things.
2-3 coats is what we normally do.
I hope this was helpful. Call us if you need us to do the work.
